On 21 April 2026, the ODIS Steering Group met with a focus on reactivating community engagement and making progress on the 2026–2028 workplan ahead of the IODE Committee meeting in October 2026. The group agreed to send a narrative communication to National Oceanographic Data Centres (NODCs) and Associated Data Units (ADUs) confirming that ODIS remains a priority, and noted that while the ODIS search interface has been offline, no data has been lost thanks to ODIS’s federated approach, with a proof-of-concept for a restored interface already in development. Discussions also touched on progress toward the IOC Data Architecture, including new Minimum Viable Products and a prototype Clearinghouse Mechanism for the BBNJ Treaty, as well as continued support for NODCs and ADUs through the Quality Management Framework and mentoring initiatives. Full meeting details are available on OceanExpert, and the full report can be accessed here.
